Opening the on-screen keyboard on a Microsoft Windows tablet (in Windows 10)

Symptoms

The end user is working with a Microsoft Windows tablet.

The keyboard icon is unavailable when clicking the polygon.

Resolution

In this use case, it's recommended to show the touch keyboard button.

  1. Using a finger, press the Microsoft Windows taskbar for a couple of seconds until a rectangle appears around it.
  2. Release the finger from the screen.
  3. A menu pops up, make sure the Show touch keyboard button option is checked.
  4. The keyboard icon should now be visible at the right-hand side of the taskbar
