The situation with Windows 11 observed today, September 29, 2021, is described in this article.

Microsoft's new Windows 11 operating system will start rolling out to eligible devices on October 5 in a phased and measured approach, and the upgrade will be free if you're already a Windows 10 user. If you're a member of the Windows Insider Program, you can download the Windows 11 Insider Preview build today and test out some of its new features, such as widgets, snap layouts, virtual desktops, and the new Microsoft Store. Microsoft uses several options to check if your machine is eligible for the upgrade. One of them is the PC Health Check app.

Install Windows 11

Note: Starting with Parallels Desktop 17.1.0, a virtual TPM chip is added automatically to new Windows 11 virtual machines. For new Windows 10 virtual machines created on Mac computers with the Apple M1 chip, a virtual TPM chip is added automatically too.

Upgrade to Windows 11

On September 16, 2021, Microsoft has announced the change that aligns the enforcement of the Windows 11 system requirements on Virtual Machines (VMs) to be the same as it is for physical PCs.

So, a virtual TPM chip is required for upgrading to Windows 11. To add a TPM chip to your virtual machine, follow the steps from KB 122702.

For Mac computers with Apple M1 chip

According to Microsoft, the "upgrade rollout plan is being finalized and is scheduled to begin late in 2021 and continue into 2022. Specific timing will vary by device". So, if the update isn't presented upon clicking Windows Update Settings > Check for updates you can not wait and create a new Windows 11 virtual machine as described in KB 125375.

For Mac computers with an Intel processor

According to Microsoft, the "upgrade rollout plan is being finalized and is scheduled to begin late in 2021 and continue into 2022. Specific timing will vary by device". But you can upgrade to Windows 11 by downloading a Windows 11 ISO, mounting it to the virtual machine (Devices > CD/DVD > tick the image), and following the upgrade procedure from Windows 10 to Windows 11 as a usual upgrade. Alternatively, you can create a new Windows 11 virtual machine as described in KB 128449.

If you get The processor isn't supported for Windows 11 error message, we advise you to follow the steps from KB 128517.
