Microsoft Office icons are missing on Mac

Symptoms

Microsoft Office icons are missing on Mac, i.e. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point. I see only blank icons:

Cause

Shared application misconfiguration.

Resolution

  1. Right-click on Excel file which is located on the Mac side > Get Info.
  2. Expend Open with menu and choose Microsoft Excel as a default application.
  3. Please do the same with other Microsoft Office files.
