How to fix the hard disk resize issue when creating a new virtual machine in Parallels Desktop 26

When manually creating a new virtual machine in Parallels Desktop version 26, the Apply button may appear greyed out when resizing the virtual hard disk during customization.

As a workaround, you can manually set the desired virtual hard disk size before installation by following these steps:

  1. Select Customize settings before installation, then click Create.
  1. In the virtual machine configuration window, go to the Hardware tab, select Hard Disk, click the button at the bottom, and choose Move to Trash.
  1. Click the + button at the bottom and select Hard Disk.
  1. Keep Type as New Image File and leave the Location unchanged. Set the preferred disk size and click OK.
  1. Close the configuration window and proceed with the installation.

After completing these steps, the virtual machine setup should proceed normally with the updated hard disk size.
