What OpenGL version is supported in Parallels Desktop?

  • Parallels Desktop for Mac Business Edition
  • Parallels Desktop for Mac Home Edition
  • Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro Edition

A program I use in Windows virtual machine requires OpenGL 3.0 or higher support. What should I do?

Note: the new Parallels Desktop 14 for Mac brings support for the following applications:

  • SketchUp 2017/2018
  • CTVox
  • DIALux 8
  • OriginLab

You may get this error message if a program requires an OpenGL compatibility profile, which is not supported on macOS, meaning we are currently unable to create this functionality.

Regardless, Parallels Desktop Engineering team does its best to improve OpenGL support in Windows virtual machines. As of now, only OpenGL core profile (version 3.2) is supported in Windows virtual machines. Subscribe to this article to receive updates on the progress.
