Symptoms
I'm trying to deploy Parallels Desktop via JAMF PRO, but installation fails with an error:
"An error occurred while running scripts from the package “Parallels Desktop[version].pkg"
Cause
When uploading not-flat packages (like our "Parallels Desktop Autodeploy.pkg") JAMF PRO can change owners and permissions of the content files.
Sometimes it breaks package. At the same time, in some cases permissions may break specifically when deploying a compressed package.
Resolution
- If you are uploading a zip-compressed package — please try uploading a non-compressed .pkg
- If you are deploying a non-compressed .pkg, please try compressing it into a .pkg.zip and deploy it instead.
