Overview
Azure offers Trusted Launch as a seamless way to improve the security of Generation 2 virtual machines (VMs). Trusted Launch protects against advanced and persistent attack techniques.
Trusted Launch is composed of several coordinated infrastructure technologies that can be enabled independently. Each technology provides another layer of defense against sophisticated threats.
For more details on Azure Trusted Launch Virtual Machines, please refer to the official Microsoft documentation: Trusted Launch for Azure VMs.
Symptoms
When attempting to deploy session hosts in Parallels RAS using an Azure Virtual Machine configured with Trusted Launch as a base template, the deployment fails. The error message displayed is: "failed to create".
Cause
Parallels RAS currently does not support the Trusted Launch Virtual Machine type for session host deployment using templates. When attempting to clone from a Trusted Launch-enabled VM, the provisioning process encounters compatibility issues that prevent the successful creation of session hosts.
Resolution
As a workaround, use a standard Azure Virtual Machine type that does not have Trusted Launch enabled as the base template for deployment. This will allow session host creation to proceed without errors.
Support for Trusted Launch Virtual Machine types is currently actively being investigated. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding this feature.
