Users running Windows 11 virtual machine may notice that Calendar and Contacts sync options are missing from the iCloud for Windows application.
This article explains why this happens and how to restore syncing using Microsoft Outlook.
Why Calendar and Contacts Sync options are missing in iCloud for Windows
After installing iCloud for Windows from the Microsoft Store and signing in with an Apple ID, the application typically displays the following sync options:
- iCloud Photos
- iCloud Drive
- Passwords and Keychain
- Bookmarks
You will notice that Calendar and Contacts do not appear among the available sync options.
This behavior is not related to Parallels Desktop or the Windows virtual machine environment - it occurs on any Windows installation of iCloud, virtual or physical. Direct Calendar and Contacts synchronization functionality is no longer included in the current version of the iCloud for Windows application.
As a result, these options no longer appear in the iCloud interface on Windows systems.
Use New Outlook to Sync iCloud Calendar and Contacts
To sync iCloud Calendar, and Contacts on Windows, the recommended method is to add an iCloud email account to Microsoft Outlook for Windows (New Outlook) instead. Once added, Outlook synchronizes these services directly with the iCloud account.
Steps to add an iCloud Account in New Outlook:
- Open New Outlook for Windows.
- Add your iCloud email account.
- Outlook will then synchronize Mail, Calendar, and Contacts with iCloud.
For detailed setup instructions, refer to Microsoft's official guide: Add or manage an iCloud email account in Outlook
