Question

Can I connect a USB hub or a docking station to my virtual machine?

Information

USB hubs and docking stations are special devices in a sense that macOS doesn't let applications (such as Parallels Desktop) to gain direct access to them. As a result, these devices cannot be directly connected to virtual machines. Each USB device connected to your hub or a docking station must be individually connected to the virtual machine.

Some USB hubs and docking stations have built-in components that are mistakenly recognized as separate USB devices and therefore may appear in Parallels Desktop's USB & Bluetooth list and mislead you into thinking that the whole hub/docking station can be connected. Connecting these phantom devices usually leads to errors. So, we advise you to avoid connecting USB hubs and docking stations to a virtual machine.
