Windows Recycle Bin contents are not visible in Mac Trash

When I remove files in Windows I can see them in Recycle Bin, but they are not reflected in Mac Trash

Only the files removed from Windows User shared folders(Desktop, Downloads, Pictures, etc.) are being shown in both Recycle Bin and Mac Trash. If you remove files from some other folders, e.g. C:\Program files\, these files and folders won't be shown in Mac Trash.

In case you are deleting files from Windows User shared folders, but still experience this issue, refer to this article.

Windows native Recycle Bin

If you generally need this sharing on, but suddenly a "native" Windows Recycle Bin content is required, you can find it in C:\$Recycle.Bin.

Being a hidden folder $Recycle.Bin is not visible by default. To see it you need to do the following:

  1. Launch Windows File Explorer, select the View tab and choose Options on the right. Click the drop-down arrow and select ‘Change folder and search option’.
  2. Next, when the Folder Options window appears on your screen, switch to View tab, enable Show hidden files, folders and drives and uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
