There is a limitation for Mac OS X LocalHostName/Netbios Name for the first 15 characters to go in AD when the Mac is joining to Domain.

This causes issues for Active Directory System Discovery because the Mac with truncated name will then arrive into SCCM.

The following functions will fail in this case:

This issue can be fixed by changing LocalHostName on the affected mac. If Client was installed but not registered due to this issue,

this change should be picked up automatically and in Device properties Netbios Name parameter should be updated. After that, Client registration should be automatically completed and Client status for this device should be updated.
