Note for Parallels Desktop subscription owners

If you have a subscription for Parallels Desktop for Mac or Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro Edition, you can upgrade Parallels Desktop to the latest version with the license you own. Download and install Parallels Desktop 13 and use your subscription license for activation. A subscription allows you to upgrade to the latest version at no additional charge as long as your subscription is valid.

According to our licensing policy, an upgrade to Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac is supported from the following versions only:

  • Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac
  • Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac Upgrade
  • Parallels Desktop 12 for Mac
  • Parallels Desktop 12 for Mac Upgrade

Activation Instructions

An upgrade to Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac can be activated:

  • Immediately after the application is installed.

  • After it has been activated with a trial key.

  • After it was reinstalled on a new or on the same Mac.

To activate Parallels Desktop 13 with a commercial key, you need to connect your Mac to the Internet. If your Mac is not connected to the Internet, you will not be able to activate Parallels Desktop.

Immediate activation

Once you have signed in to your Parallels account or created a new one, Parallels Desktop will prompt you to activate the application.

  1. Enter your activation key (dashes will be added automatically). Once you enter the key, it will be validated. If the key is not valid, it will be marked with a red cross. If the cross appears, make sure you entered the key correctly and try submitting it again. If the key is valid, it will be marked with a check.

  2. If you do not have a previous version of Parallels Desktop installed, you will also be prompted to enter a full license or upgrade key for that version. Enter your previous version key for Parallels Desktop 11 or 12. Once the key is validated, click Activate.

  3. If your Mac is connected to the Internet, Parallels Desktop 13 will be activated.

Activation after using a trial version

If you activated a trial version of Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac, you can reactivate it with a commercial license at any time by doing the following:

  1. Launch Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac.

  2. Click on Parallels Desktop from the application menu bar on top of the screen, you may click on your Control Center window to see it. Select Account & License from the drop-down menu.

  3. If the trial period hasn't expired yet, click on Enter a key.

  4. Enter an upgrade license for Parallels Desktop 13 for Mac.

  5. After a valid upgrade key has been entered, the application will prompt you to enter a previous version key. Enter your key for Parallels Desktop 12 or 11 and click Activate.

Activation after reinstallation

If you reinstalled Parallels Desktop 13 on the same Mac or installed the application on a new one, you can avoid entering your activation key manually.

If you log in to the Parallels account which contains an activation key for Parallels Desktop 13, you will have an option to use the key from your account.

After the sign in step you will see the activation window which will contain the list of licenses registered under your account. Select the license you would like to use for activation and double-click on it.

You will see the confirmation that your copy was successfully activated.
