This article will outline how to point the server to the appropriate RD Licensing Server.
The following assumes the RD Licensing server is not only fully configured and active, but you also have valid User/Device RDS client licenses not currently being used or assumed.
Launch CMD as administrator, type in gpedit.msc and hit Enter.
Expand Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Licensing.
Double click on “Use the specified Remote Desktop license servers”. Then click Enabled, and key in the license servers to use. A fully qualified hostname or IP address will work. If you need to enter several servers, use a comma delimited list (server1, server2, server3).
Once complete, click Apply.
- Reboot the server, or restart the terminal services/remote desktop services service.
