Parallels RAS can export the Farm configuration to a .dat2 file and import it later to restore the Farm settings. Use this before upgrades, major configuration changes, or as a regular backup.
How to back up the Farm configuration
- Open the RAS Console and go to Administration > Settings.
- Click Export Settings.
- When you are prompted that all sites will be synchronized, click Yes.
- Specify the file name and target folder, then click Save.
Note: Only the Farm configuration data is exported. Unrelated objects, such as downloaded OS images, are not included in the file.
How to restore the Farm configuration
- Open the RAS Console and go to Administration > Settings.
- Click Import Settings and select the
.dat2backup file.
Important: Importing a backup completely replaces the existing Farm configuration.
How to export and import Farm settings from PowerShell
- Open Windows PowerShell with an account that has the required RAS administrative permissions.
- Import the Parallels RAS PowerShell module and create a session with the RAS server.
- Run the export or import cmdlet as required.
Import-Module RASAdmin
New-RASSession -Server "server.company.dom"
# Export Farm settings
Invoke-RASExportSettings "C:\Backup\RAS-backup.dat2"
# Import Farm settings
Invoke-RASImportSettings "C:\Backup\RAS-backup.dat2"
Replace server.company.dom with the name or IP address of the server where Parallels RAS is installed. Replace the backup path with the location and file name you want to use.
For details, see Maintenance and backup in the Parallels RAS Administrator's Guide.
Note: To schedule automatic backups, see How to create automatic backup of Remote Application Server settings.
