Virtual Machine fails to re-establish VPN connection

Symptoms

• When I use VPN connection sometimes it drops the connection

• When this happens, it's easy enough to re-establish the connection in Mac OS X, but my Parallels virtual machine continues to behave as though the VPN connection was down. Thus, I'm no longer able to access the intranet from my virtual machine. I gain access eventually, but I have to wait for quite a long time - at least 5-10 minutes.

Cause

Windows storing cache of DNS-requests

Resolution

1. In the virtual machine please go to Start -> in the search box (or Run... option) type "cmd" (without quotes) -> open Command Prompt -> type:

   ipconfig /flushdns
   

   press Enter (Return).

2. Restart the virtual machine if needed.
