Keyboard mapping for national-specific layouts

10 users found this article helpful

Location of specific characters like '@', '{' , '#', 'ô', 'è' and many others differ greatly in Mac OS X and Windows keyboard layouts, so you need to use different key combinations and shortcuts to type them. To eliminate this inconvenience you need to choose equal layouts in Mac and Windows.

NOTE: Sometimes it is impossible because there is no appropriate pair for every existing Mac layout in Windows and vice versa.

  1. Start Windows Virtual machine
  2. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Region and language
  3. Switch to Keyboard and languages tab, then press Change keyboards... button

  4. Change the keyboard layout you currently use to the layout that has (Apple) - Parallels ending:

    a. Click Add button.

    b. Locate your preferable layout and press OK button.

    c. Now press Apply and OK to save changes.
