Parallels Desktop for Mac compatibility with macOS 13 Ventura

Parallels Engineering team keeps testing Parallels Desktop for Mac and other products with macOS 13 Ventura to ensure full support of macOS 13 Ventura.

Below is the list of known issues we are working on with the available workarounds that we have tested in our lab.

Known issues

Issue Workaround
macOS Ventura 13 as a host operating system
 0  A virtual machine crashes upon upgrading host macOS to macOS 13.3. 

 Based no our analysis, the issue happens on Mac computers officially unsupported to run macOS 13.3. 

 As a workaround, you can perform the steps below:

 1. Make sure the virtual machine is not running.

 2. Open its configuration as per https://kb.parallels.com/117287 > Hardware > Boot Order > Advanced Settings.

 3. Paste the following system flag:

 video.metal=0

 4. Start your virtual machine again.

 1  Windows crashes in Parallels Desktop 17.

 Upgrade to Parallels Desktop 18 if you have a permanent license.

 As a workaround, you can try the following: open the virtual machine's Configuration > Options > Sharing > Share Mac > Shared Profile > Configure and uncheck Desktop.

 Moving Windows apps between stages breaks cursor positioning (Coherence mode with Stage Manager).

 Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18.

 3  Creating a shortcut on the shared Desktop crashes Windows.

 Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18

 4  Boot Camp virtual machine doesn't work.  Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18.  
 5  Moving a Windows app window in Stage Manager brings the underlying window to the front in Coherence view mode.  Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18
 6  Virtual machine crashes if the 'Share Bluetooth devices with Windows' option is enabled.

 Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18.1.0.  

 7  The context menu doesn't work in MS Office apps.  Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18.1.0
 8   Windows start menu doesn't work in Coherence view mode with Stage Manager on.  Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18.1.0
 9   Activity icons of the virtual machine work incorrectly.  Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18.1.0
 10  Can't start macOS virtual machine on a Mac with M Series chips using CLI.  Fixed in Parallels Desktop 18.1.0.

 1  Unable to install macOS 13.4 from Recovery on a Mac with an Intel processor  Workaround: install the virtual machine from the .app file or upgrade an earlier created macOS virtual machine to macOS 13.4.

 Unable to enable/disable SIP inside a macOS Ventura 13 VM on Mac computers with M-series machines
