Known issues with macOS 10.15 Catalina and Parallels Desktop for Mac

Parallels Engineering team is testing Parallels Desktop for Mac and other products against macOS 10.15 Catalina Developer Beta to ensure full support of macOS Catalina 10.15 as soon as it is released.

Here is the list of known issues we are working on with the available workaround that we have tested in our lab.

Note: it is recommended to update to Parallels Desktop 15 for Mac where many issues were fixed.

Known issues

Issue Workaround
macOS Catalina as a host operating system
Parallels Desktop installation hangs on macOS Catalina  Wait for several minutes and installation will be completed.
Unable to start Parallels services error message Reboot macOS and start Parallels Desktop again.
Cannot access Documents/Desktop shared folders in a VM if they are synchronized with iCloud Drive No workaround yet.
Shared Applications folder in Dock is broken Fixed in 15.0.0 (Download)
USB devices don't work in virtual machines Fixed in macOS 10.15 Beta 2
Low resolution icons in the virtual machine's devices bar No workaround yet.
 A virtual machine crashes if it's set to 'Always ready in background'  Go to virtual machine configuration, Hardware > Sound & Camera, disable Camera sharing and change Microphone option to Disabled.
macOS Catalina as a virtual machine
Upgrade process to macOS Catalina in a virtual machine hangs Reset virtual machine using Actions > Reset menu.
Parallels Tools Installation Agent window remains on the screen after reaching 100%

Cannot move applications windows around the Desktop in the macOS Catalina virtual machine

      Fixed in macOS 10.15 Beta 7

After upgrading to Beta 7 go to virtual machine configuration Hardware > Mouse & Keyboard, then switch Mouse option to Auto-detect for games/Don't optimize for games.
