Microsoft Visual Studio Software unable to load its files located in Shared Folders after upgrade to Parallels Desktop 11

  • Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac Standard Edition

Symptoms

  • 1C Software unable to load its database that located on the Mac side.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio fails to compile the project (file located on the Mac side)
  • Mentioned software works just fine in Parallels Desktop 10.

Resolution

Parallels Development Team is working on the issue and will provide a fix in the nearest update.

Workaround

  1. Run Terminal (/Finder/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and execute the command:

    launchctl setenv PRL_RLIMIT_NOFILE 1024 
    

    NOTE: Should the option "Start Parallels Desktop as service" enabled in Parallels Desktop > Preferences > General > On Mac Startup you need to use execute another command:

    sudo launchctl setenv PRL_RLIMIT_NOFILE 1024
    
  2. Restart Parallels Desktop.
