When you start Parallels Desktop or a virtual achine you get this error message:
"some of the required components are missing from the operating system of your Mac" Problem ID: 15477
Some essential OS X system utilities necessary for Parallels Desktop or your virtual machine to load and run are missing or inaccessible on your Mac.
To check the exact reason for the error:
- Open Applications -> Utilities -> Console.app.
- Select /var/log/install.log
Type "inittool" in the search field.
Check whether the strings like in the example below can be found:
> Oct 2 12:52:00 test inittool: Fatal: 'grep' is missing
In this example the
grepcommand-line utility cannot be found in the default system search paths like
Other utitlies that should be checked for are
codesignand some other system utilities.
This issue may be caused by some third-party applications installed on your Mac. Some "OS X cleanup" utilities are known for causing such issues.
Reinstall OS X or restore it from a backup.
