Time zone/clocks in Virtual Machine is out of sync with Mac OS time zone

  • Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac Standard Edition
  • Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac Standard Edition
  • Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac Standard Edition

  • The time zone/clock in my virtual machine is out of sync with my Mac OS time zone/clock.

  • When I try to fix it manually in the virtual machine's control panel, all changes revert back immediately.

  • Clock or time zone can move either one hour forward or backward from the actual setting.

This behavior may happen during traveling when you change the time zone on your Mac and the virtual machine is not synced or it can occur right after summer/winter time zone changes.

To sync your virtual machine's time zone with your Mac, do the following:

  1. Shut Down your virtual machine. Open the virtual machine Configuration menu.
  2. Go to Options > More Options (in version 11)/Advanced (in previous versions).
  3. In Time option open the drop-down menu and select Sync from Mac.

  4. Start the virtual machine.

  5. If the issue persists please reinstall Parallels Tools.
