Do I need to reinstall Parallels Tools in Windows after updating Parallels Desktop for Mac?

  • Parallels Desktop for Mac Home Edition
  • Parallels Desktop for Windows & Linux

Yes, each new version of Parallels Desktop contains a new Parallels Tools package with improved performance and stability. To uninstall Parallels Tools in Windows use the standard uninstall procedure (“Start” – “Control Panel” – “Add or Remove Programs”), restart your virtual machine and choose install Parallels Tools from the VM menu in Mac’s menubar. Please make sure that your virtual machine is running, and you are logged in to the Windows before you start the installation.

NOTE: Please mind that in the latest versions of Parallels Desktop the Parallels Tools package in Windows OSes is being re-installed automatically after the update, so you shouldn’t do it manually unless you are experiencing any problems with the automatic update.
