Note: this article applies only to Intel-based Macs. Secure Boot in Parallels Desktop virtual machines running on Mac computers with Apple M1 chip is currently not supported and will be introduced in future updates.

How do I enable Secure Boot in a virtual machine?

By default, Secure Boot feature in Parallels Desktop virtual machines should be enabled, if for some reason it isn't, please perform the steps below to enable it manually:

  1. Shut down the virtual machine (Actions > Shut down).

  2. Open its configuration > Hardware > Boot Order > Advanced Settings, and in Boot flags field type in the command below:

        vm.efi.secureboot = 1
    
  3. Close the configuration window and start the virtual machine.
