Symptoms

Installation of RAS agent (say RDSH agent) fails with error Service... failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services:

When you check the corresponding RAS log (i.e., C:\ProgramData\RASLogs\tsagent.log) you can see an error like this:


[E 00/00000003/T2D10/P70D0] 19-05-20 18:48:47 - [Internal] TCP Bind 127.0.0.1:30005 (An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. [0x0000271d])

Cause

One of the ports required for the RAS agent is occupied by some other process.

You may run command netstat -ano | findstr [port number] to find the PID of the process:

Resolution

Please shut down or uninstall the conflicting application.
