Unable to log in to domain from Windows virtual machine in Parallels Desktop 9

  • Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac Standard Edition

I cannot log in to a domain from the virtual machine in Parallels Desktop 9. Error message "Trust Relationship Between Workstation and Domain Fails"

After upgrading Parallels Desktop 9 Windows 7 configuration has been changed, you need to re-add the virtual machine to domain.

Check the network connection in the virtual machine first:

  1. Check network connection mode (it should be Bridged)
  2. Launch Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal), run:

    prlctl list -a

    and hit Return/Enter

  3. Copy the virtual machine ID {XXX}
  4. Execute the command:

    prlctl {XXX} enter
  5. Execute the command:

    ipconfig /all
  6. Check IP address assigned to the virtual machine (Ipv4): XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX

  7. Execute the command:

  8. ping and IP address:

    ping XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
  9. Check that the virtual machine is connected to the Network
  10. try to log in again

If the issue still persists, then:

  1. Log on locally as a local administrator.
  2. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network tool -> select Change and enter a Workgroup name, leaving the domain.
  3. Restart the computer and log on locally as a local administrator.

There are two methods to rejoin the domain:

  1. You can join the domain from the client if at the same time you can provide an administrator username and password on the domain.

  2. You can delete the existing computer account in Server Manager, recreate the computer account, synchronize the domain, and then on the client rejoin the domain.
