Unable to Install MS DOS 6.22 in Parallels Desktop through Command Line Mode.
The additional steps should be performed in order to proceed with the installation of the Virtual machine.
Download MS DOS 6.22 installer, as an .ISO file, from here;
Create a new virtual machine and configure it for MSDOS:
- Create a virtual machine with 4MB RAM and 2GB HDD;
Note: When you set the memory to 4MB, you will get a warning dialog. Ignore it.
Set the Boot Order to: CD, HD, Floppy;
Connect the CD to the MS DOS 6.22 ISO image;
Start the virtual machine. Connect MS DOS 6.22 ISO image if it is prompted;
After the virtual machine starts, you will end with an A: drive, which is actually the CD with the MSDOS 6.22 ISO image;
Execute FDISK and create a primary DOS partition with all the size of the disk, or do whatever partition scheme you want.
Restart the virtual machine. At A: prompt execute FORMAT C: /S;
Stop and restart virtual machine;
Execute all these commands one by one:
C: MD MSDOS COPY A:\*.* .\MSDOS /v (note: there are 3 spaces in this command) COPY A:\CONFIG.SYS COPY A:\AUTOEXEC.BAT COPY A:\HIMEM.SYS COPY A:\CD1.SYS
Stop the MS-DOS virtual machine;
Change the Boot Order from CD, HD, Floppy to HD, CD, Floppy;
- Restart the MS-DOS Virtual machine.
