					<p class="p"><font size="2" face="Tahoma"><font size="3"><strong>Desired Result:</strong></font><br /> </font></p> <p class="p"><font size="2" face="Tahoma">To Install Windows to the VM using CD/DVD file image.<br /> </font></p> <p class="p"><font size="2" face="Tahoma"><font size="3"><strong>Required Steps:</strong></font></font></p> <ol>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Insert the Windows OS installation disc into the CD/DVD-ROM drive of your computer.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Start the <em>Disk Utility</em> (<em>Applications\Utilities\Disk Utility</em>). <br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Select the second CD Icon (&quot;Untitled 0&quot;) in the <em>Disk Utility</em> devices list.<br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Click the<em> New Image</em> button on the top of the <em>Disk Utility</em> window. <br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Type the name into the <em>Save as</em> box (i.e. WinXP).</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Change location to <em>Desktop</em> in the <em>Where</em> box.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Change <em>Image Format</em> to <em>read-only.</em> </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Leave encryption as none.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Click the <em>Save</em> button.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">The image creation will start. This should take a few minutes to finish.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">When the image creation is complete you can close the <em>Disk Utility</em>.</font></li><li>Ctrl+Click on saved image and select Get Info</li><li>Change extension from dmg to iso</li><li>Click &quot;Use .iso&quot; when suggested to select extension</li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Now you should be able to connect this image to the Parallels Desktop Virtual Machine.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Start Parallels with the icon in <em>Applications/Parallels.</em></font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">The OS installation wizard will automatically start. (if it does not then you can activate it by selecting <em>New</em> under the <em>File</em> menu in the menubar.)</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Choose the <em>Typical</em> install option .<br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Select the OS.<br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Choose the name.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Select option for more productive virtual machine.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">In the next window, select <em>More options.</em></font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">For source select ISO image, then use the <em>Choose</em> button and navigate to the <em>.dmg</em> file (<em>Macintosh HD/Users/[your user name]/Desktop/WinXP.ISO </em>) and then click the <em>Open</em> button.<br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Click <em>Finish.</em></font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Windows should start to install.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Install Windows normally, using the default settings.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">After Windows is installed you will need to install Parallels Tools.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">After installation, with Windows open and logged in, click the <em>Actions</em> menu on the top of your screen and select <em>Install Parallels Tools</em> (you may need to press ctrl+alt to release the mouse from Windows).<br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">A dropdown window will appear, click OK.<br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">There will be a short pause and then the Parallels Tools setup wizard will appear; click <em>Next</em>.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Select <em>Complete</em> install and then click <em>Next</em>.<br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">Click <em>Install</em> on the next window.</font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">A warning message will appear. Select OK.<br />     </font></li>     <li><font size="2" face="Tahoma">After the tools install click <em>Restart.</em></font></li> </ol> <strong><font size="3" face="Tahoma">Troubleshooting:<br /> </font></strong><font size="3" face="Tahoma"><font size="2">If image creation fails on step 7-8, you should consider that there are some problems with Mac reading your installation media. Try cleaning the disk with soft cloth, if it doesn't help - get another installation disc. Consult with the Apple Customer Service if the image creation fails even with the new disc as there may be some problems with Mac CD/DVD drive.<br /> If Windows won't install at step 18-19 make sure that you have genuine Microsoft Windows installation disc and it's bootable. </font></font>
