Author: Bezborodova Anastasiya
Last updated by: Bezborodova Anastasiya APPLIES TO:
  • Plesk 9.0 for Linux/Unix
  • Plesk 9.2 for Linux/Unix

Symptoms

You may reproduce the problem using the following procedure:

  1. Configure remote FTP server to work in passive mode.
  2. In Parallels Plesk Panel configure settings of personal FTP repository (Domains -> domain.tld -> Backup Manager -> Personal FTP Repository Settings), enable option "Use passive mode". The option should configure Plesk Backup Manager to work with the FTP repository in passive mode.
  3. Configure scheduled backup to place dump filed to the personal FTP repository.

You may see that empty backup is placed to Personal FTP Repository, the backup file has size 0KB.

However the backup is created and placed to personal FTP repository correctly if create it manually with Domains -> domain.tld -> Backup Manager -> Back Up

Cause

Scheduled backup task does not use option passive mode even it is specified in Personal FTP Repository Settings.
However the option is used in manual backup started with button "Back Up".

Resolution

The problem is a know one, it will be fixed in future update of Parallels Plesk Panel that is going to be released after 9.2.3.
Currently to enable creation of scheduled backup to FTP repository it is recommended to configure FTP server (Personal FTP Repository) in active mode.
