Enabling Parallels Shared Folders feature in Fedora Core 10 virtual machine

Article ID: 6408
Last Review: Sep,30 2009
Author: Daria Taranova
Last updated by: Daria Taranova APPLIES TO:
  • Parallels Desktop for Mac
  • Parallels Server for Mac
  • Parallels Workstation

Symptoms

You have created a Fedora Core 10 virtual machine and installed Parallels Tools in there. However the Shared Folders feature still does not work. Al folders are shown as empty. Terminal also lists /media/psf directory as void.

Resolution

The trouble is caused by new Selinux policy implemented in Fedora Core 10 OS.
To eliminate it, please open the Terminal, authenticate as root and run the following command:

system-config-selinux

It will bring up a window like the one on the picture:

Set "System Default Enforcing Mode" to be disabled.
Check "Relabel on next reboot".
After reboot Shared Folders should appear as designed.
