[Info] Parallels Management Console requires a license connecting to Virtuozzo 3.x nodes

Article ID: 3971
Last Review: Feb,27 2008
APPLIES TO:
  • Virtuozzo Containers for Windows 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When trying to add Virtuozzo 3.x node to Parallels Management Console (PMC) it prompts with a windows asking for valid license. However Virtuozzo license is installed on the node and Virtuozzo 4 can be operated with PMC without any problems.

CAUSE

PMC 4.0 explicitly asks for VZMC 3.x license key only when one tries to access a node with VZ3.x, as VZ3.x server license doesn’t impose any limits to connections from VZMC/PMC.

RESOLUTION

If PMC is installed on a clean machine  it is possible simply to copy VZMC 3.x license key manually:

To do so it is necessary  to copy file %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\SWsoft\Virtuozzo Management Console\license.pro from the computer where VZMC3.x used to be installed to the folder %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Parallels\Parallels Management Console 4.0 on the computer where PMC 4.0 is running.

Another way is simply to enter old VZMC 3.x license manually when PMC prompts with corresponding window during connecting to Virtuozzo 3.x node.
