SYMPTOMS

Virtuozzo management service or Virtuzzo KSAL service does not start.


CAUSE

Most likely the reason of the problem is incompatible Microsoft update(s) installed on the node.

RESOLUTION

Since Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.0, the utility ksaltester has been implemented. It displays information about the incompatible update(s) and the usage is the following:

ksaltester -db ksalDB.dat

WARNING: Image C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\spud.sys is absent in OS

 

File C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

 

Original name ntkrnlmp

 

Language 1033 codepage 1200 version 5.2.3790.4035 (srv03_sp2_gdr.070304-2240)

 

Update KB931784 is not compatible with Virtuozzo


Also you can check a specific file:

ksaltester -file c:\windows\system32\kernel32.dll

 

File c:\windows\system32\kernel32.dll

 

Language 1033 codepage 1200 version 5.2.3790.4062 (srv03_sp2_gdr.070417-0203)

 

File was included to update KB935839
