[FIX] An MMC Snap-in cannot be opened

SYMPTOMS

Inside a VE, when you try to open one of the MMC Snap-ins, the following error is displayed:

MMC cannot open the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\rrasmgmt.msc.

This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file. 

The file exists and file permissions are correct.

CAUSE

The MMC Snap-in has been cached and the cached file has different version than is to be used now.

RESOLUTION

Go to the VE into folder


C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\MMC


and delete the file of the corresponding Snap-in. Use the profile of the user, which starts the Snap-in
