I have valid Kaspersky License and see the following messages in the log: "You don't have enough network licenses for configured number of network clients. MaxClients reduced to 1". What does it mean?

Article ID: 3069

APPLIES TO:
  • Plesk 8.x for Linux/Unix

SYMPTOMS

The message appears in maillog during Kaspersky anti virus startup:

License file KAV00XXXXXX0000.key, serial XXXX, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Plesk SWsoft International Edition. 1 year License", 1 local connections, expires 01/08/08

You don't have enough network licenses for configured number of network clients. MaxClients reduced to 1

Total license count: -1 local connections, and 1 network connections, will expire 01/08/08

RESOLUTION

As state in the first line of the message from log,  KAV license, that is shipped for Plesk, supports only one local connection to the KAV daemon. And you get the message about MaxClients because this option is not set to '1' in the /etc/kav/5.5/kav4mailservers/kavdaemon.conf. So, this message can be ignored, or you can edit kavdaemon.conf  and set the following option in the "[aveserver.local]"  section:

  MaxClients=1
