[FIX] VE fails to start due to quota problems

Article ID: 2136
Last Review: Aug,31 2007
APPLIES TO:
  • Virtuozzo for Windows 3.5.1
  • Virtuozzo for Windows 3.5.1 SP1

SYMPTOMS

VE fails to start with the following error:

C:\>vzctl start 366
Starting VPS ...
Cannot create file M:\vz\Private\366\root\vzquota\lumber
Cannot set disk quota for VPS 366 adjust_lumber failed
Cannot set disk quota for VPS 366

CAUSE

Most likely the reason is that VE disk quota was set incorrectly.

RESOLUTION

Please go to c:\vz\private\veid folder and check root.efd file size. Then open c:\vz\conf\veid.conf and compare real root.efd size with DiskQuota value. They should be equal. If not please correct DiskQuota according to real root.efd size.

After that please try to start the VE.

Additional information

Please see also how to check root.efd disk for ntfs errors.
