[FIX] Error changing file permissions using the Plesk file manager: Unable to create user environment block

Article ID: 1845
Last Review: Aug,15 2007
APPLIES TO:
  • Plesk 8.1 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to change permissions on one or more folder/file using the Plesk File Manager the following error message is displayed:

FileManager::get_file_info_wrapper() failed: filemng util failed: Unable to create user environment block: (203) The system could not find the environment option that was entered

CAUSE

When entering the permissions page in Plesk, the process acts on behalf of an ftp system user that is configured in Plesk domain properties page. When the process is being  authorised, it loads the system user profile which is located in  the C:\Documents and Settings folder. Most probably, the user profile is corrupted if the error message above is displayed.

RESOLUTION

1. Find out the ftp system user name of the issued domain in Plesk, Domains, domain.tld, Setup

2. Delete the corrupted profile from C:\Documents and Settings\
