Parallels Remote Application Server logs location

This article outlines location of various log files for Remote Application Server (RAS) and it's components.

1. Core

1.1 Terminal Server:

RAS version 15: C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\ApplicationServer\Appdata\TSAgentLog.txt

RAS version 14.1 and below: C:\Program Files (x86)\2X\ApplicationServer\Appdata\TSAgentLog.txt

1.2 Publishing Agent:

RAS version 15: C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\ApplicationServer\Appdata\RASLogFile.txt

RAS version 14.1 and below: C:\Program Files (x86)\2X\ApplicationServer\Appdata\2XLogFile.txt

1.3 Gateway:

Gateway logs need to be enabled first by updating registry key:

RAS version 15: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Parallels\2XProxyGateway

RAS version 14.1 and below: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\2X\2XProxyGateway

  • To apply these settings in Remote Application Server Console navigate to Farm > Gateways > right-click required one >Properties > switch to IP Address tab > click on Resolve button > hit OK > hit Apply in Console.

RAS version 15: C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\ApplicationServer\Appdata\2XLogFile.txt

RAS version 14.1 and below: C:\Program Files (x86)\2X\ApplicationServer\Appdata\2XLogFile.txt

1.4 Web Portal:

To enable Web Portal logs:

Access Web Portal Administration web interface: General Settings > Logging > Click "Enable Logging"

Web Portal logs can be found here:

  • C:\inetpub\wwwroot\2XWebService\logging\Log.txt

Configuration files can be found here:

  • C:\inetpub\wwwroot\2XWebService\settings\Usersettings.xml
  • C:\inetpub\wwwroot\2XWebService\settings\websettings.xml

1.5 Settings.db:

RAS version 15: C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\ApplicationServer\AppData\Settings.db

RAS version 14.1 and below: C:\Program Files (x86)\2X\ApplicationServer\AppData\Settings.db

1.6 Client Log:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\2XClient\ClientLog.txt

2. Event Viewer logs:

  • Click Start button.
  • Go to Control Panel> System and Security > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer.
  • To Save the Application event logs to file, right click on Application and click on save to file.

3. IIS logs:

Note: Applies to IIS 7 and Above.

  • Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  • Expand the server name’s folder and click on the Sites folder to load a list of sites in the content pane.
  • Double click on the site to open its settings in the content pane.
  • Select Logging from the content pane to load the Logging settings. In the Directory field, you’ll find the path in which your logs reside. By default these are: C:\inetbub\logs\LogFiles

Note: Any crashes will logged in the event viewer logs not the IIS logs.
