Cannot connect a USB device to a virtual machine after the Mac OS X 10.11.2 update

Symptoms

  • I have updated my Mac OS X to version 10.11.2 and since then I have issues with connecting a USB device to my virtual machine. The device disappears from the list of available devices and doesn't get connected to the virtual machine.

Cause

Changes in Mac OS X. The Parallels Engineering Team is aware of this issue and working on the resolution.

Workaround

Disconnect the USB device from Mac physically and reconnect it back. The device will become available in the virtual machine.

To return device connectivity back to the Mac OS, disconnect it from the virtual machine via the Devices menu -> External Devices:
