Using the Parallels RDP Client

Using the Parallels RDP Client

Windows clients can be downloaded from the following page: http://www.2x.com/rdp-client/downloadlinks/

All Parallels RDP Clients have the same pre-requisites in order for successful connectivity:

Parallels RDP Connection:

  1. Parallels ClientSecureGateway Hostname/IP
  2. Select Connection Mode
  3. Port Parallels ClientSecure Gateway is listening on
  4. Username and password to authenticate with Parallels ClientSecureGateway

RDP Connection:

  1. Server Hostname/IP
  2. RDP Port to connect over (Default 3389)
  3. Username and password to authenticate with server users are connecting through

The scope of this article is to show how a connection can be added and configured in the following clients:

  1. Windows Client
  2. MAC OS Client
  3. iOS Client
  4. Android Client
  5. Windows Client

The Windows client can be signed up on the following page: http://www.2x.com/rdp-client/downloadlinks/

  1. To install the Windows Parallels RDP Client, one needs to run the Parallels RDP Client setup program by double clicking on the ‘2XClient.msi’ file on the client machine. A welcome dialog will appear. Close other Windows programs and click ‘Next’.
  2. Accept the License Agreement and click ‘Next’.
  3. Select the location where you want to install the Parallels RDP Client and click ‘Next’.
  4. To start copying files click ‘Install’.
  5. Click ‘Yes’ to install the ‘Single Sign-On’ component. This component will automatically use your credentials to connect to Parallels Remote Application Server & LoadBalancer.

  6. Setup will copy the required files. Click on Finish to view the status screen.

Setting up the Windows Parallels RDP Client

Upon opening the Parallels RDP Client for the first time, the user will be prompted to configure a new Parallels RDP Connection:

Upon clicking yes, the user will be required to fill in the following:

  1. Parallels ClientSecureGateway Hostname/IP
  2. Select Connection Mode
  3. Port Parallels ClientSecure Gateway is listening on
  4. Username and password to authenticate with Parallels ClientSecureGateway

Upon correct input of details, the user will be able to login to the Client and access resources made available to him.

MAC Client

The Parallels RDP MAC client can be downloaded and installed directly from the Apple AppStore using the following link: https://itunes.apple.com/app/2x-client-rdp-remote-desktop/id600925318?

Once installed, the user can add a new Connection by going into File > Add new Connection > Select Parallels RDP Connection

The following will be required for a successful connection:

  1. Parallels ClientSecureGateway Hostname/IP
  2. Select Connection Mode
  3. Port Parallels ClientSecure Gateway is listening on
  4. Username and password to authenticate with Parallels ClientSecureGateway

iOS Client

The Parallels RDP iOS client is available for download from the Apple App Store. It can be accessed and installed from the following link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/2x-client/id401103105?mt=8

Once installed, the user can add a new Connection by going into app, and click on the + Sign in the top right corner. Once done, selecting a Parallels RDP Connection will give the user the possibility to setup a Parallels RDP Connection.

The following will be required for a successful connection:

  1. Parallels ClientSecureGateway Hostname/IP
  2. Select Connection Mode
  3. Port Parallels ClientSecure Gateway is listening on
  4. Username and password to authenticate with Parallels ClientSecureGateway

Android Client The Android client is available for download from the Google Play Store. It can be accessed and installed from the following link:

Once installed, the user can add a new Connection by going into app, and click on the + Sign in the top right corner. Once done, selecting a Parallels RDP Connection will give the user the possibility to setup a Parallels RDP Connection.
