Unable to boot virtual machine after upgrade to Parallels Desktop 11

Symptoms

  • Unable to boot virtual machine after upgrade to Parallels Desktop 11 getting following errors:

    • Missing operating system

    • Trying to boot from SATA drive 1...
  • The issue mostly affects Migrated and Boot Camp virtual machines.

Resolution

This issue was fixed in the Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac version 11.0.1 (31277). Please update your copy of Parallels Desktop via the Check for Updates option (Parallels Desktop menu at OS X menu bar), or download the image here and install the update.
