To manage iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices with Mobile Device Manager, you need to create an Apple Push Certificate and upload it to the Mobile Device Manager portal. This allows Mobile Device Manager to send instructions to your iPhone, iPad or iPod devices. Just one certificate is necessary for an account and it allows you to manage any iOS devices connected to the Mobile Device Manager account. To create an Apple Push Certificate you need to have an Apple ID logon (https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/)
Note: You might experience issues with Apple’s push certificate portal when using Internet Explorer.
Step 1: Create your Apple Push Certificate request
Log into the Mobile Device Manager Admin Portal at https://mdm.2x.com/.
Go to System > Apple Certificate.
Specify your country from the drop-down list.
Click on Generate to create your Apple Push Certificate request.
The certificate will be automatically downloaded to your computer (the file will have extension .csr), and you will see a screen to upload the Apple certificate.
Step 2: Download your Apple Push Certificate
You should go to the Apple website to retrieve your Apple Push Certificate.
Go to https://identity.apple.com/pushcert and log in with your Apple ID.
Note: You cannot do this, if your account is in the Apple Development Program.
Click on Create a Certificate.
Click on Choose File and select the CSR file generated at Step 1.
Your Apple Push Certificate will be created and you will see a confirmation page.
- Click Download to save the certificate (creates a file on your computer with extension .pem).
Step 3: Upload your Apple Push Certificate to your Mobile Device Manager account
Switch back to the Mobile Device Manager Management Console web page.
In the Apple Certificate node, click on Select Apple Push Certificate (PEM) button and select the .pem file. Click Upload.
Once the upload is done, you will see a confirmation.
Your Mobile Device Manager account is now ready to manage iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.
You will need enroll each of your iPhones, iPads or iPod touches with your Mobile Device Manager account.
