Unable to view the Windows volume in the Mac Finder

APPLIES TO:
  • Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac Standard Edition

Symptoms

I am unable to view the Windows volume in the Mac Finder when I am using office network, but it works properly when I am connected to my home network.

Cause

Security measures of the Office Network.

Virtual Machine connected to the internet in Bridge mode. Network connection was terminated at the Wireless Access Point. This was due to the security measures of the office IT department.

Resolution

  1. Go to Virtual Machine's configuration
  2. Switch to Hardware > Network 1 > Set Network type as Shared
  3. Switch to Options Tab > Sharing
  4. At the section Share Windows - untick Access Windows folders from Mac and then tick it back.
  5. Reboot virtual machine
