How to turn off EFI boot?

Cause

After virtual machine conversion this option can be enabled.

Resolution

  1. In Mac OS X menu bar go to Window > Control Center (Virtual machine's list in Parallels Desktop 9 or lower) > right-click on your virtual machine and choose Configure

  2. Go to Hardware tab > 'Boot order' and uncheck 'Use EFI Boot'

  3. If you cannot see this option - open Terminal.app on Mac side (Finder > Applications > Utilities) and type:

    prlctl set VM_name --efi-boot off    (hit Return/Enter)
    

Where VM_name is full name of your virtual machine that you can see in Parallels Desktop list.
