Unable to install Parallels Desktop 8 and 9. Problem ID 15380

  • Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac
  • Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac
  • Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac

I am unable to install Parallels Desktop 8, 9 or 10.

    Problem ID 15380

I have already tried KB 114703

  1. Login to your Mac with your current user account. Make sure your current user account has Administrative privileges.
  2. Open Finder > Applications > Utilities folder and launch
  3. In Terminal type in:

    sudo su

    press Return/Enter.

Type in your Mac user account password when prompted and press Return/Enter. Note that you will not see it on typing. This is common Mac OS X behavior.

  4. In Terminal type in

    id -a

    and press Return/Enter again.

If the output starts with "uid=0(guest)" it means that Mac OS X recognises system administrator with root permissions as the guest user. Please consider contacting Apple support to resolve this issue.
