Cannot create/launch Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion Virtual Machine on MacMini 5,2

Symptoms

OS X Mountain Lion Virtual Machine installation hangs at grey screen with the Apple logo on MacMini5,2

OS X Mountain Lion Virtual Machine hangs with black screen on booting on MacMini5,2 after being copied from another Mac.

Resolution

  1. Start Parallels Desktop
  2. Go to Parallels Desktop menu -> File -> New
  3. In Parallels Wizard choose 'Install OS X Mountain Lion Using the Recovery Partition'. Proceed with Virtual Machine creation.
  4. When the Virtual Machine hangs on spinning wheel, please stop the virtual machine.
  5. Open the Virtual Machine Configuration -> Hardware -> Boot Order.
  6. In the 'Boot flags:' field please type:

    devices.mac_hw_model="Macmini5,1"
    
  7. Close Virtual Machine configuration window, and start the Virtual Machine. Proceed with Virtual Machine creation.

  8. Once the Virtual Machine is created, please install Parallels Tools in the Virtual Machine.

I am trying to install a Mac OS 10.8 as a virtual machine using 'Install Mountain Lion using Recovery Partition' option in Parallels Wizard, but the installation hangs at grey screen with the Apple logo and the circle progress is shown, where the circling of the progress indicator has stopped/frozen.

If I copy working virtual machine that has been created on another Mac to the Macmini5,2 >> the virtual machine boots for some few seconds, then halt with a black screen.
