Virtual Machine lost Internet connection after upgrading to Parallels Desktop 9

After upgrading from Parallels Desktop 8 to Parallels Desktop 9 your Virtual Machine lost Internet connection. Your Mac is using WiFi connection.

Note: The resolution in this article will not work if your Virtual Machine is configured to use Shared network connection.


  1. Open your Virtual Machine's Configuration

    • in window mode: go to Virtual Machines menu -> Configure

    • in Coherence mode: click on Parallels tray icon -> press Alt key -> click Configure

  2. Switch to Hardware tab -> Network 1

  3. If your Virtual Machine is configured to use Bridged:Default Adapter connection:

    • switch Type to Bridged: WiFi

    • In DHCP Server drop-down list choose Auto.

    • switch Type to Bridged: Default Adapter again

  4. If your Virtual Machine is configured to use Bridged:WiFi connection:

    • In DHCP Server drop-down list choose Auto.
