SymptomsThe built-in SD card reader is not being recognised in the Windows Virtual Machine using Parallels Desktop for Mac.
CausePlease check the SD card reader connection type you have in your Mac's System Profiler.
InformationParallels Desktop supports USB connected SD card readers. In order to find if you have Card Reader connected via USB, please follow these steps:
1. Click on Apple in the top menu ► About this Mac
2. Go to More Info ► System Report
3. Click on USB under the Hardware section.
4. If you have USB connected SD card reader, you see the following line in the USB section:
USB connected Internal Memory Card Reader should be recognised as a USB connected device and can be sent to the Virtual Machine via USB hub in Devices menu:
If there is no such line, you have PCI connected SD card reader. An SD card inserted in this card reader will be connected to the virtual machine as a network drive using Smart Mount feature.
To check if SmartMount is enabled please go to Virtual machine menu ► Configure ► Options ► Sharing
If you need it to be specifically recognized as a SD card in the Windows virtual machine, it is suggested that you purchase an additional external USB SD card reader.
