Windows Phone Emulator 7 and Parallels Desktop for Mac

Symptoms

1. You have installed Windows Phone Emulator 7 in your Windows Virtual Machine but the startup process takes a lot of time and the application itself works very slow.

2. When you try to start Windows Phone Emulator 7 in your Windows Virtual Machine, you see the following error message:

Windows Phone Emulator is not supported on this computer because this computer does not have the required graphics processing unit configuration.


Cause

Your Virtual Machine may have less RAM assigned than required for Windows Phone Emulator.

Resolution

Windows Phone Emulator works slow:

  1. Shut down your Virtual Machine, open Configure > General and assign at least 3 GB of RAM to it. Please make sure 3 GB of RAM are in the Recommended range specified for your Virtual Machine, otherwise you will not be able to use Windows Phone Emulator at this Mac
  1. Start your Virtual Machine and install/ reinstall Windows Phone Emulator 7.

"Windows Phone Emulator is not supported on this computer..." error message appears:

When you start Windows Phone Emulator 7 and it gives the error message:

Windows Phone Emulator is not supported because this computer does not have the required graphics processing unit configuration.
Do you want to continue starting the emulator?


Please ignore this message, pick YES and run the emulator with the default Parallels Desktop DirectX 9.
