APPLIES TO:
  • Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac

Symptoms

After creating a Windows VM(virtual machine) MacBook Air keeps running out of free space.

Cause

Probably the reason lies in the automatic creation of a VM, it tries to set its hdd file size to 64 GB, which is the max capacity of MacBook Air's hdd.

Resolution

To solve this issue, remove the already created VM by opening the Virtual Machines list, control-click the old VM and click "Remove".

Create a new one, during installation, follow on-screen instruction until you are prompted:

And click "Continue". When a window named "Windows - hardware" pops up, go to "Hardware" tab, click "Hard disk 1", click "Edit..." and reduce the size of VM's hard disk to 32 GB or less.

Then follow on-screen instructions.
