I created custom template but when I try to upload it I get the error that "Uploaded file is not a template."

RESOLUTION

Please make sure that template files are not located in the  inacceptable directories in the archive.
Directories structure should be as in the following example:

..
blue/
brown/
images/
yellow/
info.xml
template.xsl

Template should be archived without any top level directories which are not related to template.
