Synopsis: Parallels Virtual Automation 4.5 update improves scalability and performance, fixes backup compatibility with PIM 4.0, fixes backward compatibility with PMC, and provides several other fixes.

1. Subject:

Update for Parallels Virtual Automation 4.5 improves scalability and performance, fixes backup compatibility with PIM 4.0, fixes backward compatibility with PMC, provides backups/restorations of the Management Node, provides support for PSBM XServe Edition, and provides several other fixes.
 
2. Fixed problems description:

    -    PVA 4.5 does not recognize backups created with PIM 4.0
    -    PMC cannot connect to local PVA 4.5
    -    vzmigrate doesn't work from command line
    -    Not possible to import PIM 4.0 master settings to PVA 4.5 master several times
    -    PSBM XServe Edition is not supported
    -    Not possible to change VM hostname
    -    PVA-Setup hangs while installing PP over w2k8 system

   It is highly recommended to update to Parallels Virtual Automation 4.5.

3. Affected components description:

    -    PVA Management Server component. This component ensures the communication between the slave physical servers and their virtual environments.
    -    PVA Agent for Parallels Server Bare Metal component. This component ensures the interaction between the physical server it is installed on, the Master Server, and your client computer. Without this component, a Parallels Server Bare Metal physical server cannot be registered in the system.
    -    PVA Agent for Virtuozzo component. This component ensures the interaction between this physical server, the Master Server, and your client's physical computer. Without this component, a physical server cannot be registered in the system.
    -    PVA Power Panel application. An auxiliary tool designed for managing a single virtual machine or a single Container via a standard web browser. It can be installed only together with the PVA Agent component.
    -    Documentation bundle. The bundle contains Parallels Virtual Automation 4.5 documentation.

5. Obtaining and installing:

   Run pva-setup on the Linux server and follow the instructions given by the installation wizard.

   On Windows server, run the Launch PVA Setup utility from Start, All Programs, Parallels, Parallels Virtual Automation.
